Superhero romance pairs a love story with super-powered characters — heroes, villains or the people closest to them. The genre turns powers into emotional tells: control slips when feelings run high, and the most powerful person in the room is often the one with the least control over how he feels about her.
Superhero romance works because powers are feelings with consequences. A man who can bend metal has to be careful with everything, so the one time he isn't says more than any confession. The genre is full of partners, rivals and best friends who've saved each other a hundred times without saying the obvious — and the stakes of a city to protect make every choice between duty and her a real one.
Almost Kiss has 1 superhero romance story: The Gravity Between Us. Chapter 1 of every story is free to read online with no sign-up, and a free account opens chapters 2–3 of two stories a month. Each story plays out as a text conversation with the characters.
Superhero romance is a romance subgenre featuring characters with superpowers — heroes, villains, sidekicks or partners. Stories often explore secret identities, the cost of heroism and powers that react to emotion.
Hero and villain, best friend partners, secret identity, the sunshine hero and powers going haywire around the love interest are all favourites.
